On December 16, 2010, Alison Giffen spoke at “Sudan: Regional Implications of Post-Referendum Scenarios,” a large workshop hosted by the National Defense University CCO. The workshop was attended by 250 people. Giffen’s presentation focused on the various risks of, and challenges to, prevent and respond to violence against civilians over the coming year. Other speakers included former US Envoy Andrew Natsios, current USG point for Southern Sudan Princeton Lyman, and representatives of the USG, AU, and NGO community.
