Radia Funna is an internationally recognized futurist, whose xHuman theory explores the impact of frontier technology on people, institutions and societies. She leverages that work to help advance technology standardization and safe adoption through leadership at global SDOs including co-chairing WG1 of the United Nations’ first Focus Group on metaverse and recently chairing the first UN Virtual Worlds Day. She has co-authored pre-standards specifications including for the UN’s definition of metaverse, adopted by its 193 Member States in 2023.
Ms. Funna is the founder and principal at the consulting firm Build n Blaze (strategy, policy and digital transformation); a multi-agency advisor to the UN; a member of the Trust and Safety Teaching Consortium at Stanford University’s Internet Observatory; and an advocate of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
