Former U.N. high commissioner for refugees Sadako Ogata was recognized Thursday for her contribution to strengthening global security by a major Washington think tank.
The Stimson Center bestowed the Pragmatist and Idealist Award upon Ogata, as well as Ashton Carter, a former U.S. deputy defense secretary, and Timothy Wirth, a former U.S. senator who serves as vice chair of the U.N. Foundation.
