Featuring  Brian Finlay  • Bruce McConnell

The Stimson Center Board of Directors welcomed new member Bruce McConnell at its April meeting.

Brian Finlay, President and CEO of the Stimson Center, said: “We are excited to bring Bruce’s talent and knowledge to our board. He brings decades of experience in practical international cooperation — particularly in cyberspace — and well-understands the significant challenges facing the nonprofit policy and action community today. Moreover, his membership on our Board brings a further tangible connection with our recently relaunched programming previously conducted at the EastWest Institute. I very much look forward to partnering with him to grow and expand our Track II work at Stimson.”

Bruce McConnell has been a leading player on global cyberspace peace and security issues for over thirty years, working at the intersection of government, business, and civil society. “It is an honor for me to become part of the Stimson Center’s hard-working board,” said McConnell, “and to bring my energy and perspectives into the conversation. The peace-building that Stimson embodies has rarely been more vital.”

McConnell led the EastWest Institute’s Global Cooperation in Cyberspace program before becoming the Institute’s President and CEO. Prior, he served as a Deputy Under Secretary for Cybersecurity in the Department of Homeland Security from 2009-2013. He also has significant private sector experience, having built two technology-focused consultancies. Before that Bruce spent more than a decade at the White House Office of Management and Budget.  Read the full bio.
