Dr. Hasnain recently published Muslims in Northern India: Frozen in the Past, a critical examination of the role of community leadership and state education policy concerning India’s emerging Muslim middle class. Dr. Hasnain is Chairman of the Governing Board of the Inter-University Centre for Educational Communication and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calicut, Kerala. He has been a Visiting Professor at several US and European Universities and previously served as Professor of Environmental Sciences in the Jawaharlal Nehru University. An expert on Himalayan glaciers, he is currently a Senior Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi.
