Negeen Pegahi

Dr. T. Negeen Pegahi is a Nonresident Fellow with the South Asia program. She is an assistant professor of strategy and director of the Mahan Scholars research program at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.  Her research interests center on deterrence theory, the consequences of nuclear proliferation, and Southwest Asia.  She previously served as a strategic advisor to U.S. Special Operations Forces in Afghanistan as well as a pre-doctoral fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the United States Institute of Peace.  Her commentary has appeared in Foreign Policy, The National Interest, Small Wars Journal, War on the Rocks, and The Washington Quarterly and she is currently exploring crisis dynamics among nuclear powers.  She received her PhD in political science from the University of Chicago.
