Future of Peace Operations Visiting Fellow Peter Weiske was born in Australia and has worked around the
world. Following a military career in aeronautical engineering, Peter
developed skills and expertise in a range of science and development sectors,
in particular emerging risks, complex emergencies, humanitarian projects,
systems science, foreign affairs and international relations. In a 20-year
career, he has served in some of the world’s most arduous places, from
Rwanda/Congo to Mongolia,
including in support of international agencies such as the UN Development
Program. He is presently researching a doctorate at the Australian National
University on “Complex
Unbounded Problems and Emerging Threats.” In the course of his research he has
been a visiting scholar at the University
of Oxford, the Institute
of National Security Studies in Israel, and now
at Stimson.
