President Trump is facing mounting criticism that his administration is bowing to pressure tactics from North Korea in a desperate attempt to resuscitate moribund nuclear talks ahead of a year-end deadline from leader Kim Jong Un’s regime.

John Bolton, the president’s former national security adviser, was among a number of prominent figures who on Tuesday rebuked the Trump administration’s move to block a U.N. Security Council meeting on North Korea’s human rights violations, scuttling the gathering for a second consecutive year.
