It was just another day in Washington D.C. for Joe Hockey.
The Australian ambassador to the U.S. and former federal treasurer was at the Stimson Center in the American capital on Thursday to deliver a "keynote address on the importance of the US-Australia bilateral relationship", but he ended up having to hose down the allies' latest drama.
"No, the administration hasn't rung us up and I haven't been hauled into the White House and been sent back to Australia ... so far as I'm aware," Mr Hockey said to laughs after his speech.
