WHAT: Former U.S. Representative and Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Mike Rogers (R-MI) joined Amb. Lincoln P. Bloomfield Jr. for a strategic conversation discussing U.S. intelligence, foreign policy, and national security policy. Among other topics, the conversation examined strategies for countering extremist-inspired threats, current and future cybersecurity challenges, and broader intelligence community efforts around the globe.

U.S. Representative Mike Rogers is a former member of Congress from Michigan, officer in the U.S. Army, and FBI special agent. In the U.S. House of Representatives, he chaired the House Intelligence Committee where he built a legacy as an effective leader on cybersecurity, counterterrorism and national security policy. As chairman of the committee, he authorized and oversaw a budget of $70 billion that provided funding to the nation's 17 intelligence agencies. Today Mike is the host of the nationally-syndicated radio commentary "Something to Think About with Mike Rogers" on Westwood One, and a CNN national security commentator. Mike sits on the Board of Directors for IronNet Cybersecurity, the Board of Advisors for Next Century Corporation, and serves on the Cybersecurity Industry Advisory Council for Trident Capital. He is also on the Board of Trustees at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress. Mike is a 1985 graduate of Adrian College.

Amb. Lincoln P. Bloomfield Jr., Chairman of the Board of Directors, Stimson Center

Lincoln Bloomfield Jr. is President of Palmer Coates, non-attorney Senior Adviser at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Operating Advisor at Pegasus Capital Advisors and Senior Adviser at ZeroBase Energy. He was U.S. Special Envoy for man-portable air defense systems threat reduction from 2008-2009 and Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs from 2001-2005. Bloomfield previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern affairs (1992-1993); Deputy Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs (1991-1992); and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs (1988-1989), among other policy positions in the Defense Department dating to 1981. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
