Furthering our co-founder Barry Blechman’s fierce commitment to reducing nuclear threats for a safer, more secure world.
“All I can say is that it is essential for all of us to keep trying.”

Give in Honor of Barry Blechman
Nuclear risk reduction is the bedrock upon which the Stimson Center was founded. Our founders, Barry Blechman and Michael Krepon, dedicated their careers over nearly a century of combined service to reducing nuclear threats and eliminating the risk of nuclear war.
With his passing in June 2025, Barry Blechman’s fierce commitment lives on through the Blechman Grants, a transformational undertaking that aims to rethink how we approach nuclear risk reduction.
The Blechman Grants are dedicated to reducing the threat of nuclear weapons through smart policy, informed dialogue, and international cooperation. We support bold ideas, responsible leadership, and evidence-based solutions that can move the world toward safety and peace.
On behalf of the Stimson Center and the Blechman family, we thank you for your generous support. Together, we can make a safer world possible.
