Gordon Adams quoted in Politico on Military’s Readiness Risk

HAGEL DELIVERS STRONGEST WARNING YET ON SEQUESTRATION: “If
sequester-level cuts persist, we risk fielding a force that is
unprepared,” Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said in his speech Saturday
at the Ronald Reagan Library in California.

His remarks focused on how the spending cuts threaten military
readiness, something DoD officials have been warning about for months,
but are now trying to turn up the volume on as the latest sequestration
deadline approaches in January. Getting people to listen is proving
difficult because it’s not an easily visible problem and it has no
organized constituency on Capitol Hill.
