INCREASED American focus on the Asia Pacific region could help reduce the threat of terrorism in the Middle East, according to an expert on military spending and national security policy.
That is because of US moves to pull combat troops out of countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
However, Dr Gordan Adams added that did not mean the US had plans to disengage from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
The professor of international relations at the American University in Washington, DC explained the US was looking more to the Asia Pacific region as part of its long-term security strategy.
