in Program

Gordon Adams, Distinguished Fellow with the Budgeting for Foreign Affairs and Defense program, was featured in a recent piece for PBS’s NewsHour. The segment “Defense Department Budget Will Be Major Questioning Point for Nominee Hagel” analyzed the upcoming budget challenges facing Nominee Hagel should he be confirmed as Secretary of Defense. Mr. Adams provided insight into these challenges:

“When he takes office, the first challenge he has is, he will be in the middle of a sequester fight, because we are supposed to have a budget sequester, meaning an automatic across-the-board cuts for the defense budget and every other federal budget, that is supposed to happen March 1.”

The segment ran on January 9th, 2013 and can be viewed here.
