On January 10th 2013 , Stimson hosted the eventÂ
Challenges Facing the
USÂ Reconstruction Effort in Afghanistan. The event featured remarks by
Mr. John Sopko, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, and
was followed up by a panel discussion featuring several experts on the reconstruction efforts. Mr. Sopko’s address at the Stimson Center covered many of the challenges facing U.S. involvement in the country and was
his first on-the-record, public speech since taking office in July 2012.
