Robert Makros

Lieutenant Colonel Makros currently serves as the United States Air Force’s National Defense Fellow at the Henry L. Stimson Center, Washington D.C. Prior to this assignment, Col. Makros commanded the 13th Bomb Squadron, Whiteman Air Force Base, where he was responsible for the conventional and nuclear combat readiness of the men and women in one of only two operational B-2 stealth bomber squadrons in the Air Force. Colonel Makros is a career aviator who has flown both the F-15E and B-2 Stealth Bomber.  He deployed to the Middle East, twice as an F-15E pilot in support of OPERATION’S ENDURING FREEDOM and SOUTHERN WATCH and to the Pacific, twice as a B-2 pilot in support of the Continuous Bomber Presence mission. In addition to his operational experience, Colonel Makros served a staff tour as Chief, Aircraft Nuclear Strike, Joint Functional Component Command for Global Strike at United States Strategic Command. He holds a M.S. in Military Arts and Science from Air Command and Staff College, a M.S. in Aviation Safety from University of Central Missouri and a B.S. in Social Sciences from the United States Air Force Academy.
