Future of Peace Operations
In conflict-affected areas, the international community struggles to determine where, when, and how to restore the rule of law, and to prevent and respond to violence against civilians.
The Future of Peace Operations program, directed by William Durch with deputy director Alison Giffen, contributes to the international community's efforts to help war-torn societies transition to self-sustaining peace.
In 2012, the Future of Peace Operations program will focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of international police peacekeeping, developing measures of progress for peace operations, and increasing global preparedness to prevent and respond to violence against civilians in conflict-affected societies.

Restoring the Rule of Law
This project supports rule of law components in and rule of law goals of international peace operations. FOPO engages with the United Nations, governments committed to improving peace operations, and international and US organizations who work on these or overlapping issues.
