Global Health Security

 

As globalization continues to connect populations through economic integration and technologic advancement, the world faces the challenging task of greater coordination in the area of global health security. Rigorous surveillance, concerted analysis, and pragmatic solutions are paramount to addressing this increasingly vital security dynamic in the 21st century.

 

The Stimson Center's newly launched Global Health Security Program evaluates the rapidly changing policy frameworks for global public health, including infectious disease surveillance and reporting, allocating resources to build infrastructure and save lives, and global health governance. 

 

This internship allows participants to broaden their understanding of issues at the intersection of public health, development, and security while honing and refining their analytical and organizational skills.  Responsibilities may include: 

  • Research and analysis for project publications and meeting materials
  • Organizing meetings and assisting with coordination of international events
  • Briefing on related events in the Washington, DC area
  • Assisting in the drafting and distribution of various documents
  • Proofreading, fact-checking, and editorial support
  • Providing administrative support to project and Stimson Center staff

 Generally, successful candidates for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • Strong interest in international security and global health  
  • Excellent research, analytical, communication, and writing skills
  • Flexibility to work independently or as part of a team on an evolving set of issues
  • International experience and foreign language skills preferred (but not required)
  • Full-time or part-time availability
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate students are encouraged to apply.
