In this new volume, regional experts from the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Stimson analysts discuss the unsustainable exploitation of forest, water, and mineral resources in pursuit of rapid economic growth which threatens the environment, livelihoods, and food security, as well as domestic and regional stability. This volume is the first in a four volume series from the second year of Stimson’s Regional Voices: Transnational Challenges project.

At the book launch, project director Amit Pandya will introduce the project's work of the second year. Richard Cronin, lead editor, will discuss key findings from the volume, and will be followed by a commentary from the Woodrow Wilson Center's Public Policy Scholar Jill Shankleman.
