Stimson Conventional Defense program data cited in Foreign Policy on US Funding Governments using Child Soldiers

Investigators for the United Nations found 48 child soldiers in Afghanistan last year, with more than half working for government-backed forces such as the Afghan National Army and the Afghan Local and National Police. But that news somehow never made an impact in Washington.

The Obama administration has authorized more than $100 million in peacekeeping funds for Somalia and roughly $30 million for South Sudan for 2016 alone, according to estimates provided by the Stimson Center, a Washington-based global security think tank.
