Lincoln Bloomfield, Jr. quoted in Asharq Al-awsat on US-Iranian relations

Abu Dhabi- Some experts in Washington have agreed that the Iranian attitude did not change after signing the nuclear deal, adding that Iran is still one of the countries sponsoring terrorism.

This agreement will not treat the trust issue between Tehran and Washington, according to the experts.

Lincoln Bloomfield, chairman of the Stimson Center, highlighted a dire need to understand the motivations behind the Iranian attitude. Bloomfield said, “We, in the U.S., need strategy, solidity and unity in Washington.”

He described the years following the revolution in Iran as “decisive years” when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini presented his constitution and was supported by clerks to take over the administration and impose his dictatorship in Iran.

“It’s essential that we know that this regime fears its’ nation,” added Bloomfield.
