The Managing Across Boundaries program hosted by Finnish UN Mission

March 04, 2011

On Friday, February 25, 2011, Ambassador Jarmo Viinanen, the Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations, hosted a luncheon to discuss the joint project by Finland and the Stimson Center in Eastern and Southern Africa on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540. The luncheon was attended by partner countries in Eastern Africa, Managing Across Boundaries program (MAB) staff and representatives from the Stanley Foundation, which MAB has partnered with under its Beyond Boundaries Initiative. MAB's program director, Brian Finlay, offered insights into the progress of Stimson's engagement in the region and charted the path forward, including several follow-up meetings in the region attended by MAB staff. Eastern Africa partners from Tanzania and Ethiopia encouraged the progress of the Finn-Stimson project and vowed to remain involved in the process.
