Stimson and PEP host roundtable with UNAMID leadership

On March 1,
2011 the Stimson Center and the Partnership for Effective Peacekeeping hosted a
roundtable featuring the head of UNAMID, Joint Special Representative Ibrahim Gambari, and the mission's Force
Commander, Lieutenant General Patrick
Nyamvumba, to discuss
UNAMID's current and future role in Darfur. Serving as the facilitator, Alison
Giffen encouraged the panelists and audience to explore prospects for, and
challenges to, sustainable peace in Darfur, Sudan and the broader region;
UNAMID's strategies and capacities to protect civilians; and the unique
experiences of a hybrid AU/UN peacekeeping operation.
Following the roundtable, the Better World Campaign conducted short interviews with both Gambari and Nyamvumba. Footage of the interviews is as follows:
