East Asia - Japan Internship
Stimson's Japan program closely examines the developments relevant to US-Japan security relations, as well as Japanese security policy and Japanese politics. We are also hosting Visiting Fellows from Japan Self-Defense Forces for a short-term fellowship during which each Visiting Fellow will engage in in-person interview and other research on the topic of their interest that has policy relevance to the current US-Japan alliance.
Responsibilities for the Japan program intern include:
- Providing high quality copyediting and research assistant to program staff
- Writing reports on seminars
- Assist in the coordination of program events
- Tracking developments regarding Japanese politics, the US-Japan alliance, changes in the Northeast Asian region, and Japan's relations with its neighbors
Generally, a strong candidate for this position will have:
- A strong interest in East Asian security and political issues
- Attention to detail and commitment to high quality work in both research and administrative tasks
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
- A record of academic excellence
- Proficiency in Japanese preferred but not required
Although a successful candidate often is in an M.A. program, undergraduates are also encouraged to apply.
