Philip Odeen
Philip A. Odeen is the non executive Chairman of AVAYA, a telecommunications company. He is former chairman of Reynolds & Reynolds and served as interim CEO from 2004-2005. From the fall of 2005 until mid 2006, Mr. Odeen served as CEO of QinetiQ North American Operations, supporting QinetiQ Inc.'s - a leading U.K. defense technology company - expansion into the U.S. marketplace. He continues to serve on their U.S. Board. Prior to that, Mr. Odeen was chairman of TRW Inc., which was acquired by Northrop Grumman. Earlier, he ran one of TRW's business units and served as the company's senior representative in Washington, DC responsible for government relations, business development, and selected international activities. Previously, he held positions as president and chief executive officer of BDM, as vice chairman for Coopers & Lybrand's management consulting services, with the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the National Security Council staff, as principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Systems Analysis), and as head of the Defense and Arms Control staff for then-National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger. In 1997, Secretary of Defense William Cohen selected him to chair the National Defense Panel. He is a member and former vice chairman of the Defense Science Board and a member of the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel. Mr. Odeen is a director of five New York Stock Exchange companies: AES, Avaya, Convergys, Reynolds and Reynolds, and Northrop Grumman. In addition, he is chairman of the Henry Jackson Foundation. Mr. Odeen received a BA in government from the University of South Dakota, was a Fulbright Scholar to the United Kingdom, and earned a masters degree from the University of Wisconsin.
